Music Monday

Hi guys,

A little late but Music Monday time.

I've been listening a lot to this song  a lot, it's a really good video too.

I'm away to bed for an early night, i've been working on four custom orders recently so i'm pretty tired. My weekend will be quieter. Can't wait for a little bit of free time.

Hope you are all well.

Goodnight

My Trip away at the weekend 14th - 16th September :)

Hi there,

I have had an incredibly busy weekend. I was down in England and it was awesome. Minus the journey home but i will tell you about that a little further on.

I'm disappointed in myself for not taking many photos this weekend, the ones in this post are literally all i took. Very disappointed.

Sadly you can't see the name of this place but it is called 'The Cow' i had an excellent cup of tea in it and a lot of strangely dressed people passed this window as well as entered this pub.

They had pretty cool menu's in there too :)

And really cool pin up wallpaper.

This place was truly beautiful, i miss it so much already.

Already been looking at tickets to go back :)

This place was awesome. When you are sitting outside you are both inside and outside, this place was amazing. I loved it a lot, it was definitely my favourite place i went for a cup of tea whilst i was away.

England seem to really get into decorating there window displays. I'm not sure what this was but it looked pretty cool so i took a photo of it :)

On the Saturday night i went to Chiqutos just outside the hotel and i ordered a burger. But for some reason my eyes were bigger than my stomach and i ordered two burgers in one bun which i will admit i struggled a lot to eat because my mouth wasn't big enough to eat it.. Silly. Also learnt my lesson.

On the Sunday on the way home it took me 13.5 hours to get home instead of 9. There were signal problems and lots of other problems with travelling and i didn't end up getting back to Aberdeen until like 2am. Stressful. I got stranded in many places as well for ages including Newcastle and Carlilse. No matter how stressed i was and how long it took me to get back, i would do it all over again for the awesome weekend i had :)

Music Monday:The head and the heart

Hi There,

It's Monday! Which means from now on it's Music Monday.

I have had a mental weekend i have been away. Far far away. The journey home back to Aberdeen was a total disaster also. I will be posting photos and stories about that trip in the next few days.

Hope everyone had a good weekend.

The Intouchables 2012 Film Review

Intouchables (Untouchables in English) it's out in two weeks in the UK but i was one of the lucky people who got to see the preview last night in Aberdeen's Cineworld.

Let me say first off that this film was not what i was expecting at all. This film really did truly blow me away and it was such a pleasant surprise. Now i really should tell you a bit about it before i continue to go on about how amazing it was.

Untouchables is a French subtitled film but please do not let that put you off, the amount of time you will be laughing with this film the less time you will worry about the subtitles. Anyways back on the point. Untouchables is about two characters:

One who is a gentleman named Phillipe who was in a terrible air gliding accident and who is now paralyzed from the neck down.

The other guy Driss who goes for a carer job interview that has been advertised by Phillipe but he has no intention of getting the job all he wants is to get his benefits form signed. Phillipe really grows fond of Driss and decides to hire him. What Phillipe really likes the most about him is the fact he forgets Phillipe is paralyzed. Both Phillipe and Driss's personalities are both so infectious.

If you want to laugh so hard your stomach aches then this is the film for you. Forget the fact it's subtitled. Untouchables is such a feel good film and one you've seen it you will be so pleasantly surprised at how much you've enjoyed it.

I'm going to give it five teacups out of five (as oppossed to stars)

Here is the trailer so you can take a peek for yourselves :)

Long time no speak

Hi there,

I am not going to lie when i say i have really missed blogging. I have had a lot of stuff going on recently that i have not found the time to blog which is totally ridiculous. So firstly i would like to apologize to my readers and i will now be back to blogging regularly and i have so much to tell you about.

For starters the weather here in Aberdeen has been quite lovely for a nice change. I've had many sunny days and many days of getting sun burnt but i have loved every minute of it. September seems to be our hottest month which is fairly odd seeing as it is the end of our summer time here in the UK, but i am not going to complain, not in the slightest.

Since i've been last here i have been obsessed with going to Thainstone Market which is just outside of Aberdeen. Thainstone Market is a huge car boot sale and i have bought many bits and pieces from here. It's on every Sunday. And as it is Sunday today i was up in the sunshine buying bargains. I also had a sad moment there today because there was a gorgeous tea set from 1967 but sadly it was £50 and a little out of my budget, but i did however get this!!

It's an owl cookie jar that i picked up for £4. I fell in love with it as soon as my friend spotted it!!! One day in my new home i will have this placed and yes i will fill it with cookies :)

I have been working at my new job for a month now, i am working in Health and Safety and loving every minute of it. As well as that i have been working on Birdie Teacup. I successfully took part in a craft fair and also loved every minute of it too. I have become obsessed with instagram recently so quite a few of my photos have been done on there.

I bought this teapot at Thainstone today too, it's a sewing machine teapot i just had to buy it!!! For some reason i cannot get the position of this photo to change, so apologizes.

I also picked up this wool and circular knitting needles today, my first pair of circular knitting needles i may add!! This is for a new project i will be starting just shortly which i will keep you posted about :)

I am really excited because Winter is coming (not meant to be a Game of Thrones quote but it did come out that way) I have already started buying jumpers and stocking up on my teabags ready for the cold weather.

I will be back in the next few days telling you all about my adventure of my first ever craft fair!!

I promise not to abandon you again, but i will say my blog will be changing a lot soon hopefully and it'll be more personalized.

Thank you for reading and being patient :)

The Art of getting by...

Hi everyone,

Last night i re watched The Art of Getting By and decided that the soundtrack may be my personal summer soundtrack to life. Every track on it feels like it has been written personally for me (it obviously hasn't, but that is just how it feels.)

My life seems to have flipped around recently, one of my friends from when i was fourteen up until the age of twenty two i had the pleasure of knowing passed away. This was a tough time for my friends and i, and out of this horrible experience we all came together again to be friends as adults. This brought with it a lot of emotions and feelings that i really didn't even want to re surface, but they did and i dealt with them and do you know what? They worked out really well. Something that i had been really scared of facing for years finally happened and i realized i had nothing at all to be scared of.

It's been a tough time i will admit that, and it has been reflected in my blog posts, the few that i have been able to bring myself to write. I would just like to say i have turned a corner and inside my head now i am more at peace with a lot of things, and i feel i have grown as a stronger person. I have re connected relationships with friends that i hadn't spoken to in years and they have became so dear to me. I have started putting aside so much time to spend with family and friends, we are only here once and i don't want to miss a second!

I have really exciting news! Today i received some amazing news, i have just got a new job finally :) Thanks to my sister Sarah, who is a superstar!!! I start next Friday. I handed in my notice at my work today and i really was very scared and i felt so bad, but it's done now and it's something else off my 2012 checklist :)

Next weekend i will be travelling the seven hours down to Peterborough to go visit James. I am so excited!!! In the whole time we have known each other two months has been the longest we haven't seen each other and it has been really hard. My new job involves working Mon to Fri, so i will have every weekend off which means if James and i want to see each other we can :) Which is amazing. Everything has dramatically improved. Only six or so shifts left at my work, but i bet you they are the hardest. Oh well it's all pay at the end of the day and i don't have to do such long hours anymore. And maybe my leg will finally start to heal :)

This has been a bit of a heart felt post. Sorry for the heart spilling, sometimes you really just need to get things off of your chest. Some craft fair blog posts will be posted sometime this week.

I hope everyone is well :)

Artist of the moment just now :) Newton Faulkner

Hey guys,

My artist of the moment is Newton Faulkner. I listened to him a lot when he first came out a few years ago, but now he has a new album *Write it on your skin* and it's amazing. There is something about Newton Faulkner that just makes me feel really creative.

You should definitely give him a listen.

I've been really busy with work recently and i am finally getting a day off on Wednesday. My body is totally exhausted :(

Here is a song from Newton Faulkner from his new album to give you a little taste :)

Future Truths

I have a lot of thinking to do...

  • I have a craft fair in five weeks and i haven't even started planning what i am making let alone actually have anything made for it. I am beginning to stress out a lot about it and i will probably not get the time off of work to even do it or have enough hours in the day to actually make these items as well as work.
  • I have been applying for new jobs and sadly no luck yet. But i will not be disheartened.
  • To move to England or not to move to England. My brain feels like it is away to implode.
  • Learn how to crochet properly or be prepared to never be able to do it.
  • Sort out all of my Birdie Teacup related business bits and pieces and put my focused head on.
  • STOP buying wool and felt and START making things out of them and a quicker pace.
  • Continue saving money because i am doing so well.
  • Learn how to drive and STOP thinking about what it might be like to drive.
  • STOP being so unhappy when i can make everything fine if i work hard at it.
  • Please make James realize that i'll never want anyone else.
  • Buy the Diana Dreamer next Friday
  • START taking more photographs.
  • Go on Holiday!
  • FIND everything mint green in the world and then OWN it
  • LOVE every day as if it were my last

Dear week

Dear Week:

I have drank many cups of Starbucks tea, i must find somewhere online where i can purchase these Tazo teabags, they are huge and taste amazing!!!

I am really tired and must make more time for sleep and also make more time for eating!!

I have a letter to still write for James, i'm trying to send a weekly letter :)

Weekly breakfast dates with my Granddad every Wednesday. We sit and chat about what's been going on and we go and pick up his messages :) One of my new favourite memories to go into my heart :)

I am still loving the colour 'Mint Macaroon' colour for just about anything including my phone cover below.

I have been making so much time for friends and family recently, it's so important to share the little time we have on this little planet.

I'm looking for a new job, as always.

It's only five weeks till the craft fair and i think i'm not going to be able to manage :(

I must get back into the habit of blogging :)

My new glass teapot is amazing even if it was from poundland!

I must start taking more photographs :)

My photo album has expanded recently and i have become very familiar with printing off photographs and then collecting them and getting them in the old school folder.

In nine days time i will be buying the 'Diana Dreamer' i am so excited and have resisted buying it for three weeks now :)

The weather has been pretty up and down. It's been pretty foggy most of the time :(

I've of course been drinking a lot of tea but not as much as normal!

Work has been busy and i have been working a lot, can't wait to get a new job.

All in all this week has been a dramatic improvement from the past few weeks. I have zoomed through so many seasons of Nip Tuck and now i only have one and a half seasons left.

I'm currently just stocking up my mp3 player because i'm going to visit my mum for our weekly visit tomorrow and my music has been lacking big time recently. It's full of a HUGE selection now :)

What are you listening to at the moment?

Dear week and a bit.

Dear week and a bit, this has been one of the worst weeks you have ever thrown at me. This has been a very sad and emotional time. One of my friends has passed away, this has been a really hard week for everyone who knows him, and sadly it is just the start of hard times.

I've not made anything this week i haven't been inspired at all.

Tonight my mum came to pick up a kitten from my sisters boyfriend's mum.

That is all for just now, i shall be back with a big catch up post in a few days fingers crossed.

Thank you.

Forever in our hearts, we will all really miss you Cheyne :(

Radio silence

Hi guys, i am so sorry for being as quiet as i have been. This week i received some very bad news about a friend so i've not really been floating about in the blogging, twitter or facebook world.

I have been at work, working away trying to keep my mind busy. The funeral is next week sometime so next week might be more of the same with the silence around here.

This has been a really emotional week and i have not really known what to do with myself, all i keep thinking is to hold onto my memories forever, and print as many as my photos off as i can and keep them forever.

Dear Week

This has been a hard week but at the same time a good week.

I am on day 18 of not smoking, this is the longest i have ever gone without a cigarette in over eight years. I am very pleased and i have already saved myself over £50 from quitting. That saving means i am a little closer to moving to England.

I went to my favourite place in Dundee this weekend, it's a 1950's inspired diner and i discovered there my phone does a vintage-esque filter on my phone so i played about a bit with it when i was there. They have little mini jukeboxes on the tables :)

The have the funniest signs on the walls :)

It's so cool, and the staff are so lovely :)

They do a really good cup of tea :)

My auntie Lynn, playing about with her new phone.

Burger and chips for me, it is so good there :)

This sign actually made me laugh out loud, i love it!

So many signs in that place!

Last weekend i went into boots and usb'd some photos off and got them printed, these photos are just above my desk. It's my inspiration and happiness corner :) It reminds me that James is always there with me, if not in person but in photograph.

This week i made this Jammy Dodger keyring and then added it to my facebook page for selling. I love it. You can buy it here : http://www.facebook.com/BirdieTeacup

This week my friend Chris moved back to Glasgow, everything is changing in a big way. He's a member of our weekly quiz team, any questions we have about computers or cars will have to be missed out now.

This week i finally cut my fringe, it's been a long time coming!

This week i also tripped up the stairs at my work and now i have a bruised left leg and a really badly bruised thumb. So clumsy!

My week has been pretty busy, but i've worked, spent time with family, drank many cups of tea, travelled a bit and made something new for Birdie Teacup :)

K-Tea's Tea Tour (1) - T Ann Cake (Dundee)

Hi there,

This is a new type of blog post that i might create into a blog itself i am unsure yet. It is called 'K-Tea's Tea Tour'

Basically what i do is i go around tea rooms, cafes, restaurants, museums anywhere that sells tea and i share with you a bit about it and most importantly how good the tea is.

For my first ever K-Tea's Tea Tour post i am reviewing T Ann Cake in Dundee, Scotland.

T Ann Cake is a delightful tea room full of a range of beautiful mismatch and kitsch furniture. I fell in love with every lampshade and even every salt and pepper shaker (The salt and pepper shakers on my table has eyes glued on to them, this made me smile a great deal.)

T Ann Cake has an amazing selection of teas to offer, i was really surprised. There have not been many places i have been to that have a huge tea section, but T Ann Cake is the place to go if you want a huge choice. When you've selected through the list and your tea comes to the table you get these amazing fine china cups and saucers AND on the teapot you get a knitted tea cosy!

If you are in Dundee and you want a good cup of tea, please do not hesitate to go to T Ann Cake. You can visit Ann's blog the lady who owns it to find out more information :)

P.S When i walked into T Ann Cake with my auntie were wowed over by how friendly a welcome we received when we came through the door. Everyone of the members of staff chorused 'hello' to us. It was a very comfortable atmosphere and they have a huge selection of homemade baked goods to choose from and a homemade ever changing menu to choose from. Next time i am in Dundee i will definitely be going back :)

Dear Week

Dear Week,

For starters i apologize for not posting on you at all during the week and it has been six days since i last posted.

I have just finished my ten day stint of shifts and i am so glad it is over.

I have successfully quit smoking for 13 days and i have the whitest teeth i think i have ever had!

I am getting very good at saving pennies and hopefully shall continue to do so well.

I picked up my new favourite cardigan of all time in Primark today for £5 it was in the reduced section but i love it!

I learnt how to say 'Love it' in Polish this week.

And i have drank so many cups of tea i have lost count.

I am starting a new blog topic post a few times a week called 'K-Tea's Tea Tour'

Song of the moment

Hi there,

I have a new song that seems to just hit the spot just now. It is very fitting with a lot of the stuff that is going on with me just now. I haven't got much to share today, i have just been working for five straight days and i still have another five straight days to go. i.e Ten days of straight of work, so i can not wait for my day off on Saturday. One good thing about working ten straight days is i get the weekend off, and in the hospitality business that is pretty amazing!

Here is my song of the moment:

Hope you like it :)

Dear Week (a bit late) and a photo catch up

Dear Week,

This week was Jubilee week and i attended a jubilee party at my auntie's house which turned into a BBQ, i was pretty much the only person who wore red, white and blue. But that didn't bother me at all. I spent some time chatting with my grandparents and it was really good :)

As everyone knows James left this week, it's been emotional but i am starting to feel a lot better about it now. It's time to keep it strong :)

I went to visit my mum on Monday, there is a road on the way to Stonehaven and it pretty much just a forest and i have always loved it, if i could i think i would live there. I took a few photographs but i was on a moving bus. But this photo reminds me a little bit of how fast my life seems to have got recently.

This week i also went back to work which has been really tough. I have been signed off for four months and going back was really daunting, but i am so glad i have started saving money now!

I moved house this week too back into my dad's house for a few months, it's a small room but surprisingly i have managed to fit my three car loads of stuff in it.
This is my DVD and book collection and if you look closely you will see my taxidermy love bird James gave me for Christmas last year, his name is Tabious :)

I finally have a proper desk! When i bought it, it was way too big for the room but my dad cut it down and set it up for me moving in. He did it in the space of a day, what a man :)

This is the knitted moose head i made a month ago, i was going to sell him but then i just loved him too much. If you are interested in one of him then let me know :)

New mug, very me :)

A deer head i made a few months ago, made out of felt. He took a long time to make, his name is George and i loved him so much i kept him too :) Now the moose and the doe live together :)

Book and inspiration pile, it is forever growing!

My wool corner, constantly growing too. I have an addiction to buying wool and felt, it's out of control i just cannot resist.

It's been a hard week but as the week has gone on i have started to feel a lot better. I'm sitting knitting some squares for my blanket tonight, i will post up about operation blanket over the weekend.

Hope you have had a lovely Friday :)

Love Katy

P.S On Jubilee party day i also painted my nails red, white and blue. I loved the celebrations. What did you do?

James's last full day in Aberdeen.

Hi guys,

If you are over here at my little corner of Internet regularly then you know that my boyfriend James has just moved down to England and i will be joining him in three months time to live there permanently.

This past Saturday James and a few of our friends including me went out for a little bit of a pub crawl to give him a brilliant send off. Everyone got quite boozy including James. I on the other hand was actually just on water, i am tea total by choice. But not in a sort of look at me I'm better than you way, i do not think like that at all. I drink every so often but i actually much rather prefer drinking tea :)

Anyways, our first stop was "Brew Dog" in Aberdeen where we played board games and sampled many different tastes of beer and also ate two full cheese plates. Between six of us i may add which doesn't make it seem so bad at all. I discovered that i now like Goats Cheese. A new development in my taste buds!

Popping Pirate, we discovered that no matter how many swords we put in the barrel the pirate did not pop. This game was broken :(

Jenga, a few games of this were played and when they all toppled over we all had to scramble and pick them up when they scooted off of the table.

We found this board game but there were no English instructions. Does anyone out there know how to play this game?

I took a sneaky photography of James and i holding hands under the table :) This is love :)

We discovered Mastermind is not a fun game and we all find it way too easy and guessed everyone's colour combo's within four go's. Does that make us all masterminds?

That was James's last day it was sad but a lot of fun :)

Last night i had my pub usual quiz that i attend every Monday night. We came third place and won some meal vouchers. Can't wait to eat there again the food is pretty good :)
